Andrew Moddrell earned his Bachelor of Architecture with distinction from the University of Kansas and earned his Master of Architecture from Yale University, where he was awarded the H.I. Feldman Prize for outstanding design. Moddrell currently works as a Designer/Project Manager at Garofalo Architects in Chicago. He worked previously at UrbanLab and A. Zahner Architectural Metals and was an Adjunct Assistant Professor and Research Associate at the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Moddrell's design work and research has been exhibited internationally in Germany, Scotland, China and South Korea, as well as in the US. His urban research received an International Bauhaus Prize in 2004. He earned Honorable Mention in the Van Alen Institute's Urban Voids: Grounds for Change Philadelphia Competition in 2005 and Envisioning Gateway: A Public Design Competition for Gateway National Park in 2006.
