Paul Preissner, AIA began Qua'Virarch in 2004 to pursue an unapologetic interest in the formal project of architecture. Qua'Virarch's obsessions include the discursive development of character and audience as elementary particles within an architectural choreography. As an architect he is a figure in efforts to generate a new sensibility through form.
Preissner has taught at the Southern California Institute of Architecture, the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and served as the endowed Hyde Chair at the University of Nebraska. His architectural work has been included in exhibitions at the Art Institute of Chicago (Young Chicago), the Venice Biennale, the Rotterdam Biennale, and the Shenzhen Biennale and is in the permanent collection of the Art Institute of Chicago. Work from his practice will appear in the forthcoming Digital Architecture Now by Neil Spiller (Thames and Hudson).
Prior to founding Qua'Virarch, he worked in the architectural offices of the late Philip Johnson, Peter Eisenman, SOM LLp and Wood+Zapata.
